Privacy

This page explains, in plain language, what information Canopy collects and how we use it. It is a general summary and not a legal contract.

What we collect

  • Practice and contact details, such as your practice name, specialty, and the contact information you give us when you apply or reach out.
  • Claim and denial documentation that you upload so we can prepare an appeal, including the payer’s denial or underpayment and the supporting records for the claim.
  • Calculator inputs, such as the rough figures you enter to estimate the revenue your practice may be writing off.

How we use it

We use this information to prepare appeal documentation and to operate and improve the service. Canopy prepares the appeal package; you file it with the payer, and the payer pays you directly. Email from Canopy is used for notifications, such as status updates and links, and is not used to send protected health information.

Protected health information

Some of the documentation you upload may include protected health information. Canopy handles protected health information under a Business Associate Agreement with the practice, and works from the minimum necessary to prepare an appeal. Real patient identifiers are reintroduced only when a final deliverable is assembled.

What we do not do

Canopy does not sell your personal data. Canopy is a consulting service and not your representative: we do not file claims or appeals with payers on your behalf, do not contact payers for you, and do not provide legal advice.
